⚔️ Rules of RoP ⚔️

Read Carefully and Follow These Rules

Introduction

On Rites of Passage, we have a set of basic rules concerning controversial issues that are often problematic on pkilling muds of this nature. These rules were created, not for the council to 'police' the mud, but as guidelines to provide players with a fun and fair environment. Keep in mind however, we as the council of RoP, will uphold these rules, and you as a player should familiarize yourself with these rules to avoid character penalization.

The Rules

RULE 1: MULTIPLAYING

MULTIPLAYING is strictly forbidden. You may NOT have multiple characters at any point or time. This includes multiplaying two players of the same alignment OR of different alignment, whether played simultaneously or during different sessions.

In addition, having more then one person playing them same character is also strictly forbidden.

CONSEQUENCE: Deletion of both characters.
NOTE: An easy way to get your characters deleted and site-banned is to log in a good character, then log in an evil character for a second to check who is currently playing on the evil side. This is known as SPYING and is considered the most serious offense. This will result in deletion of both characters the very FIRST time you are caught breaking this multiplaying rule.
FAQ: What happens if someone is playing from my same site, but we are not multiplaying and I get accused?

ANS: You will be investigated. When you login from the same site of someone else already playing, it writes to the logs, so we can easily find possible multiplayers. If you are under suspicion, your email address will be verified. Don't worry; if you provided an accurate email address everything will be cleared and you may continue playing as usual. This is why it is very important that you give us a VALID email address. If you do not have an email address, you need to get one.

RULE 2: No SCRIPTING

Using a script language to play your character is strictly forbidden. If your character is found to be repeating a loop of easy kills OR spell casting, you will be investigated. In order for you to validly play on Rites of Passage, you must be in control of your keyboard. Running a script while you are afk, OR at the keyboard, but doing something else (like watching tv) is against the rules. No scripting PERIOD.

CONSEQUENCES: First offense - forced preset, second offense - deletion.
NOTE: The use of clients and various triggers is generally frowned upon in the pkilling mud community. We will make no rules against using them here; however, remember, it's your reputation at stake. To make life easier, the mud provides 30 aliases for you to set and use to shorten your command or command string. These are not the same as triggers.

RULE 3: REIMBURSEMENTS

In general, REIMBURSEMENTS will not be given, unless a loss is clearly the fault of the Administration of Rites of Passage. Since this is a touchy subject, and almost impossible to prove, it's safe to say equipment reimbursements will not be given. Level reimbursements are different, and will be treated accordingly, should the need arise. Do not spam the Administration with whinings or beggings for reimbursements over any channel. One simple Pray or a polite note will go alot further. If no one is online to help you, email rop@ropmud.com. The decision on the reimbursement will be final. Continuous nagging and whining will not be tolerated.

CONSEQUENCE: Silencing your character until a written apology and acceptance of the matter is sent to the Administration of Rites of Passage. Continual harrassment will result in deletion of your character.

RULE 4: No SPAMMING

Spamming any player or any channel will not be tolerated. If you are caught spamming, your character will be silenced. If this behavior continues, you may be frozen, deleted, or your site will be either newbie-banned, or permanently banned. The only way to remedy this situation would be an email to Rites of Passage with a humble apology, and even then, removal of the silence or ban is not guaranteed.

CONSEQUENCE: Character will be silenced. Continued behavior may result in freezing, deletion, or site banning.

RULE 5: Abusing BUGS

Abusing a BUG that has or has not been reported is considered cheating. Keep in mind, cheaters are not welcome at Rites of Passage.

CONSEQUENCE: If you are found exploiting a bug that is used to crash the mud or cheat in any way, you will be deleted and sitebanned.
NOTE: In order to make this a fair, challenging, and enjoyable mud for everyone, reporting bugs is the right thing to do. We, the Administration, appreciate and will remember the players who assist us in finding these.

RULE 6: Equipment TRANSFERS

Also, NEVER transfer items/equipment to storage characters; This includes temporarily giving equipment to another character, with the intent of getting in back. Giving equipment to another character while running around collecting spells/eq/money/guilds/whatever, is forbidden. If you are caught, then say goodbye to both characters involved.

CONSEQUENCE: Deletion of both characters involved.

POLICY

Our General Policy

We, as council of Rites of Passage, are going to try to be very patient, and use constructive criticism and comments in a beneficial manner for the mud. However, we are only human (yes, that's right, human), and we will not tolerate verbal abuse toward the mud or any council member here; we simply don't have to. This includes verbal assaults via tell, or any channel on the mud. If we consider you to be 'out of line', you will first be warned. If you continue to rant and rave, you will be frozen until a written apology is sent to the council at rop@ropmud.com. Threats and extremely abrasive comments towards the mud or any council member will result in deletion and a site ban. We really wish to avoid such conflicts; so please try to work with us, not against us.

Anyone starting a newbie after having their character frozen to whine or TALK (ie argue) will get both their normal character deleted, and that site newbie-banned. If you feel you have something to discuss, write email to RoP. We will gladly reply.

If you are just here to cause trouble or be annoying, no thanks, we get enough of that daily, irl, from other people. We run this mud because we enjoy it, and because we wish to provide a fun mud for ALL to come and enjoy. We have worked hard here; we take pride in what we do. Don't come here to ruin it for us and our players, and expect to be patted on the head. We will do our best to deal with trouble makers in a mature, concise manner, so others won't have to suffer from that person's childishness.

We all get upset once in awhile. Just try to think before you say the wrong things. Logging out for an hour or two does wonders...

MULTIPLAYING

Multiplaying or multiplayers are not allowed period! This means you are only allowed to have one player at any given time and are only allowed to play one character. No exceptions!

In addition, please do not give away your character to another person. If more then one person is even caught playing the same character he/she will be deleted.

SMUGGLING

Using a character to smuggle goods from one side to the other is considered nothing less than multiplaying and cheating. If you are caught helping out "someone" from the other side, with no interest in players of your own alignment, or with no interest in your own character's well being, then expect to be tortured, possibly deleted. This includes the transfer of equipment, money, or sacred information.
